Anthropic launches Claude for Google Workspace in public beta for all paid plans

Anthropic has launched Claude for Google Workspace in public beta for all paid Claude plans, placing Claude in a sidebar inside Docs, Sheets, and Slides that reads the open file and edits it in place. The move puts Claude directly inside the productivity apps where Google's own Gemini has held home-field advantage for over two years.

In Docs, Claude can polish a sentence, reformat a heading, or propose larger rewrites as suggestion cards the user applies or dismisses individually. In Sheets, it writes formulas, builds pivot tables and native charts, and can pull data into Python for cleaning before writing results back into the spreadsheet.

Separately, new Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides connectors let users create and edit Google files directly from the Claude chat interface. By default, every change needs approval before it lands; an "Accept all edits" option lets Claude work through a task without stopping. The beta is installable from the Google Workspace Marketplace, and enterprise controls like the Compliance API and customer-managed encryption keys carry over.
