Belgian cybersecurity firm Aikido released Altar, an open-weight AI model built for cybersecurity applications, according to Reuters on September 21. Altar is a compressed and customized version of Z.AI's open model GLM-5.3, offered openly for local deployments so companies can run AI security tooling without sending sensitive code to external providers.

Aikido says the model is already deployed in its solutions for customers including Belgian bank Belfius, tapping demand for locally runnable defensive AI as criminal use of AI to find software vulnerabilities grows.
