PayPal said Tuesday it is partnering with Meta so PayPal customers can shop and check out with their Muse personal AI agents across PayPal merchants worldwide. At launch, Muse used Stripe's Link for payments; PayPal becomes the second checkout rail in what is fast becoming a land grab for agentic commerce.

The other deal: Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke said Shopify is partnering with Muse to enable agentic checkout with Shop Pay across all Shopify stores, first reported by PYMNTS on Monday. Shopify shares jumped about 8% Tuesday to close at $148.63, capping a roughly 15% two-day rally after the partnership was unveiled. Neither company has disclosed revenue sharing or a rollout timetable.

The timing is pointed. Amazon blocked Muse from completing purchases on its own site after the zero-day report, so Meta's agent needs sanctioned checkout rails to grow. Per Monday's PYMNTS report, Muse checks out with the shopper's saved payment method at businesses where Link is accepted — Link has 300M+ users and 1M+ businesses — and everywhere else issues a single-use virtual card scoped to an approved purchase, with the shopper approving the total in chat.
